after having been registered (and voting) Republican for 71 years (she's 93).

Trump and the MAGATs sent her over.

She was never a MAGA or Tea Party Republican.

I actually have a similar story - my grandmother. She always voted Republican, as did her father before her, the actual "party of Lincoln!" Even though my grandfather's whole family, including the younger generations, are lifelong Democrats. My grandmother used to say that they "canceled each other out." But then she got involved with a local peace group when she moved to a retirement community in North Carolina. And she invited me to join them on their initial visit to their "sister town" in the Caucasus Mountains of the USSR. They were all senior citizens except for one woman and me, not to mention world travelers and dedicated to peace, I got to know and love them all.

So for the 1992 election, she called to tell me that she voted for Bill Clinton! I told her that I did, too, though we'd had these discussions before. And she voted for him in 1996, as well. And since she was born in 1900, she was 92 and 96. So your Mom has a kindred spirit, you deserve to be as proud of her as I was of my Nana...

She came to her conclusions on her own, she didn't need a trip to the USSR to convince her...

I think Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly, etc. helped also. She tired of the Fox News cacophony of hate.

Funny how people think though. We were discussing politicians and she mentioned she didn't like the attitude of that "stuck-up guy who talked down to his audience."

She was talking about Adam Schiff.

It wasn't what he was saying. It was how he looked and sounded while saying it.

Pelosi too.

I explained. She's okay with them now.

Odd how presentation is everything.

Thanks Rhiannon12866.
