to make is that sometimes War does unpredictable economic things in a nation's economy, e.g., perhaps enhance an industry's level of technology due to money pouring in for war components, war-related materials, research, etc. but I suspect in Russia's highly concentrated wealth, controlled by so few in Russia, the effects are more negative and thus not spread throughout the Russian economy.

So, in effect, the distortions in Russia due to arms purchases is crippling a major part of Russia's economy and hence hurting other critical economic sectors in Russia.
