Former RNC Chair Begs Marjorie Taylor Greene 'Stop With The Stupid!' - Ring of Fire

Former RNC chair Michael Steele has had enough of Marjorie Taylor Greene's ignorance about basic issues - or at least her attempt to convince the public that things about basic issues that are false are actually true - and he called on her to "stop with the stupid" during a recent appearance on MSNBC. Greene is attempting to mislead the public about the debt limit in America, which was hit on Thursday. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Well, folks, the debt ceiling battle, of course, is heating up because yesterday, Thursday we hit our debt ceiling limit, which means the United States at the moment cannot borrow any more money, but fed share says, Hey, we can probably make things work until about June after that. Yeah, we got some real problems if we can't borrow money. And yesterday on msnbc, former R N C chair Michael Steele was brought on to talk about Marjorie Taylor Green, who proudly proclaimed that she would not sign a bill, a clean bill, raising the debt limit. She says she will not sign it, which is funny because you're not the president. So we don't have to worry about whether or not you are going to sign a bill. You are just an average ordinary member of Congress. There's 434 others of you if you don't wanna sign it. But that's not what Michael Steele had to say because apparently Marjorie Taylor Green has been out there like many Republicans calling for a debt ceiling deal.

That means we get to slash spending on all these other programs in order to raise the debt limit. Even though new programs are not covered by the debt ceiling, the debt ceiling, the debt only covers the programs that have already been passed and signed into law. That's existing spending, not new spending. And Marjorie Taylor Green is pretending that there is not a distinction between the two. So former R N C chair Michael Steele finally came out, told Marjorie Taylor Green to just stop being stupid. Here's what he said. If you understand how this works, Marjorie, then you know that this is about bills that have already been created, not new spending. So this is not a spending question. This is just paying the credit card of the country for the 8 trillion. Your president ran up between 2016 and 2020. So stop with the stupid.

Now, I admire Michael Steele for finally getting mad enough to come out and say, you are being stupid. But Mr. Steele, I also have to tell you, if you've been paying attention to Marjorie Taylor Greene for the last two and a half years, you know that stopping with the stupid is not something that she is capable of doing. Like, that's pretty much her whole brand identity is just stupid. And furthermore, your party, the party that you used to run, y'all are the ones who like to lie to the public about the debt and the national, uh, the national debt, the deficit, all of that crap. Hell, you did it too when you were in charge of the Republican Party. So don't act like your hands are clean in this matter, Michael, you are right there with the rest of the party lying to the public for years and years and years and years about these spending programs we have with the federal government. But to the point, again, we could be facing a crisis

In the very near future. Again, fed says we can probably get ourselves through till June after that, if we cannot borrow more money, we're gonna have to start cutting programs. And on the top of that shopping block, of course, the social security. And then of course, there's the salaries for federal workers, which means if you're a federal government employee, no matter what it is you're doing, you may be working for free. You may be furloughed. We don't know how this is gonna happen because we've never defaulted on our credit as a country before. But this is a fight that the Republicans f uh, uh, uh, chose to fight. They inflicted this upon us. Now they're trying to lie to us about how we fix the problem.

However, Steele is right to call out dumbass for her stupidity.

To my mind, she really is as stupid as she seems. I don’t think it’s an act.

By the way, TT, thanks for including the transcriptions! They’re most appreciated.
