Was an art form in WW2 and just revived. And depending what they were in prison for and how long their sentence, convicts may be more motivated and blood thirsty than the average draftee. We really should start to worry as this is looking a lot like RU vs. Germany in WW2. Same issues of poorly trained and equipped RU troops at the beginning and while millions were killed as cannon fodder to try and hold the line in WW2, eventually the Russians came up with tactics and officers that could start to work and took the offensive successfully. And the Germans like the Ukrainians got short on ammo. The longer this goes on, the more peril Ukraine is in that the Russians could become a more effective fighting force. One pitched battle that opens a major hole in the Ukrainian lines, could be catastrophic. And human wave attacks and heavy artillery barrages can do that as there are just too many targets and no time to regroup and staunch the momentum.
