Former Trump Lawyer Baffled After Trump Hits Him With Subpoena - Farron Balanced

Donald Trump has hit his former lawyer/fixer Michael Cohen with a subpoena, and no one - including Cohen - has any idea why. Cohen told MSNBC that this might be the dumbest possible thing that Trump could do because, as a lawyer, he has saved every single bit of evidence that he's ever come across, so no good for Trump can come of compelling Cohen to testify. Cohen may challenge the subpoena, but the better thing to do would be to spill all the remaining beans that he has, as Farron Cousins explains.

Donald Trump's legal team has, for some reason that we do not yet know, sent a subpoena to Donald Trump's former lawyer slash fixer Michael Cohen. And even Michael Cohen has admitted that he is baffled by this subpoena and he thinks it's the dumbest possible decision that Trump's lawyers could have made. Like, why would you wanna subpoena me? Why would you want me to testify? Because you know that I have nothing but a lot of dirt on your client. So calling me to testify is probably not gonna do what you think it's gonna do. But as we've seen, Donald Trump doesn't exactly surround himself with the best lawyers in the country. And yes, one of the lawyers' names on the subpoena from Trump's group is Alina Haba. So, you know, not somebody who's gonna end up in the trial lawyer Hall of Fame someday. But here is what Michael Cohen said.

He tells the story about when the subpoena arrived. And I gotta tell the whole thing, cuz I, it's so funny, he said, he gets a knock at the door and it's a subpoena. It's a subpoena to testify. And I'm saying to myself, my God, this is so weird. Why would the Attorney General ask for me? Or, or why would they subpoena me? All you have to do is call and ask me, and I'd be happy to come in and provide any testimony that they want. Well, after reading the document, the first few pages, I realized it's actually not from the Attorney General, but rather it's from Trump's lawyers. It's like five or six of them are subpoenaing me to come in in a couple weeks and provided deposition. It's one of the dumbest moves I could possibly imagine they would want. Clearly the information I'm providing is predicated on documentation, you know, on documentary evidence.

And as much as they think they're going to bully me, it's not going to happen. They're not going to benefit from it. And tomorrow, fortunately, I'm seeing another lawyer in order to determine whether or not I'm going to make a motion to quash the subpoena and basically show Donald the same consideration he showed to the American people. I would beg you Michael Cohen, don't do that. Please do not quash this subpoena. Comply with it. Show up. Bring all your big old stack of documents and nail them to the wall. If anybody, and here's the best part, like we still don't even know what lawsuit this is about. Like, we don't know. That's what's hilarious here is like, well, we just want you to come and testify. And even Cohen's like I, I'm not even sure what what case this, like what am I, what am I doing? Which, which investigation is this? You got like a million of them. Could you narrow it down for me just a little bit? But if it is the, uh, you know, New York Attorney General investigation into Trump calling in Michael Cohen, as Cohen put, it really is the dumbest thing you could do. Cuz a lot of the things

You're accused of doing happened when Michael Cohen was a part of your team. He would know about them, he would have documentation of it, like he said, and it's not gonna go the way that you think it's gonna go. But that's why I want Michael Cohen to just comply. I, I know it's a hassle, it's a headache. Uh, these people, it's gonna be annoying. You know, you gotta pay more legal fees. You might be able to get those back though. Either way, dude, you gotta do it. You really have to do it. You might be the key to taking down Donald Trump once and for all, possibly even destroying the Trump organization if they get a guilty verdict. Come on. Like this is all on you. We're all rooting for you. We're all cheer, we're all cheering for you. So please show up with your documents and show 'em who's boss.

Frauds (tax-, insurance-, bank-) for decades.

Crimes (alleged money launderings, alleged rapes, alleged sexual assaults, witness tamperings).

Still golfing daily with Secret Service protection paid by the US taxpayers...

for Trump. What on earth does he think he can benefit by having Cohen testify? Cohen is right, that was really dumb.

It's not about Cohen. It's about Trump getting off.

What finding out everything Cohen has on him will do for his defense is a mystery, imo.
The only juror who would have reasonable doubt is one who'd want to believe Trump's defense in contradiction to all the facts and the law.

or where he's filed. If the subpoena is real, why don't we? How can there be secret courts or some other judicial body that can compel Cohen's testimony?? wtf is really going on with this.

This all seems like some made up alt reality.
