(206,016 posts)And I have Carter's autobiography ("A Full Life: Reflections at 90" ) in which he describes all they went through at Camp David. It was tough to get the two leaders to talk together and at one point Sadat was ready to leave. But President Carter did everything he could to mediate and finally achieved his goal in the end.

(7,664 posts)The US has been at peace for only 16 of its 246 years as a nation. Counting wars, military attacks and military occupations, there have actually only been five years of peace in US history--1976, the last year of the Gerald Ford administration and 1977-80, the entirety of Carter's presidency.
If you listen carefully.....the drums of war are beating again....WHY? WHY? WHY?
