Could China and the US be headed for an all-out confrontation? - DW News

If China’s freshly appointed foreign minister Qin Gang is to be believed, the answer is: yes - China and the US could be headed for an all-out confrontation. At his first press conference in the post, he slammed Washington's approach of "competition without conflict" and warned that the current dynamic threatened global peace.

Speaking on the sidelines of the National People's Congress - China's rubber stamp parliament - Qin defied those expecting a more reconciliatory tone after the recent spy balloon incident and blamed the US for the war in Ukraine and rising tensions over Taiwan.

The economic consequences will be the immediate effect, Huge military losses for both sides, but I think China will regret any initiation of hostilities...not only will the US be there, but so will Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Philippines, NZ, and Australia.

Within the past year they have signed agreements with the US, Australia and another nation to increase naval coordination.

locally and regionally - to thrown in with the SEATO countries should a hot war get ignited. And China's economy has a lot of structural issues. Real estate, a shrinking export base, and unrest in the outer provinces. I hope that they see the folly Russia has instigated and will think twice about starting a delusional regional war that they ultimately cannot win.

I can't imagine what happens to the economy if we stopped the shipping containers coming from Asia.

A shooting war with China would also include a shooting war with Russia and so we replay WWII, but with nuclear weapons instead of firebombing. So we could have a perfect trio, WWIII, the Great Depression II, and the internal Fascist takeover I all at once. What joy that would produce.

What a way to end an otherwise good life.

Conflicts with China are a stupid idea. We just don’t have to go there. Why is all this enemy stuff being ramped up? Somebody’s war material portfolio getting a little thin? This is a dumb idea that will hurt us all. We already have a war that is causing a turbulent world economy. In the 21st Century we can do better than living with medieval world views of constant warfare, The costs are too great!
