Having been to Russia - and observed then-Republican President Reagan's tough policies towards the USSR in action - it's beyond my comprehension that the current crop of "Republicans" in Congress are now siding with the worst Russian dictator since Stalin!

nor with US backed dictators around the world. Authoritarian alliances are predicated upon the transactional value of the alliance. And, of course, the Koch brothers dad worked for Stalin.

He was not at all popular there since people felt he made life more difficult for them after causing a rollback of some of Gorbachev's more progressive policies. One older lady, after discovering that we were American, spit on the ground after saying "Reagan!" However, when one of the group explained that we preferred Jimmy Carter, she was all smiles. Carter was much more popular there.
