Even after George Santos was indicted this week for among many other things, making false statements, he decided that his best course of action after being indicted for making false statements was to come out to the press and make a false statement. Now, while him lying to the press is certainly not something that is a criminal activity, it is a little bit, well, totally expected, but definitely ironic that you would just be indicted for making false statements and then turn right around and make a false statement. Basically what I'm saying is they wouldn't have brought these charges, even though Santos is universally despised. If they weren't confident they had an airtight case because they know how politically toxic it can be going after a sitting politician, whether it's a Democrat or a Republican.
