That the DOJ can't bring criminal charges against Trump because it hasn't charged some other person for something else?

I don't think the one thing has anything to do with the other.

That's now how it works. They must certainly recognize this.

Or that Trump has somehow immunized himself from prosecution by declaring his candidacy and commencing his campaign?

That must be the angle they're really hoping might work. The appearance of political persecution.

If Garland meets with them, he should only do it in front of multiple cameras with adequate lighting and good quality audio.

9. I have a feeling that this latest move is borne from desperation

If they imagine that Garland will call off the Special Counsel investigation - for whatever lame reason they've come up with - when it's nearing completion, they're got another think coming. And he's still facing Alvin Bragg, Letitia James and Fani Willis - and now E. Jean Carroll again - no matter what he's "running" for. He broke laws, and likely jeopardized national security, there's no getting around it.

10. He is under investigation..how can he be allowed an audience with Garland?

He hasn’t been indicted yet so what’s to plea deal? Can this request be afforded to any citizen or is this his idea of special circumstances?
