I've heard Fromm later described as a Marxist. Chomsky regards him as superficial, but each to his own. Here's more if anyone is interested:

(56 posts)I read a number of his books, more than I can say unfortunately about Chomsky. I still have a couple, the art of loving came of as a little tedious to me, especially when he described one of Jung's dreams as a literal death wish for Freud. My favorite book was The Forgotton Language, which dealt with the unconscious. but his social commentaries were very educational.
