Cassidy Hutchinson made history last summer delivering explosive testimony before the January 6 committee. As a top aide to President Trump's chief of staff Mark Meadows, Hutchinson had a front-row seat to the final months of the Trump White House. She spoke with Amna Nawaz about what it was like to break with Trump and her new book, "Enough." - Aired on 09/27/2023.

1. I'm supportive of her telling her story

and I would note that early on during that nightmare in the WH a book about this dysfunction and chaos was written by Omarosa. Because of some actions by her she was largely dismissed but sometimes information from an unsavory source is still revealing. The effort by the likes of Peter Navarro and others to "dirty up" Hutchinson is part of the playbook that is used to get people and media to begin to be dismissive of the veracity of the authors.

The people who come forward, at great peril to themselves and their families/loved ones, teach us a valuable lesson about the need to speak up despite the looming sacrifices on a personal level or the personal baggage one has.

2. I realize now that I don't agree with her politics, but I have to admire the way she spoke up

Before the January 6th Committee and apparently elsewhere, from what she said. And she was only 24, I don't know if I'd have the courage to do that now - going against her long-time boss and everyone she knew in the White House, and knowing that she was separating from them forever by telling the truth. Not to mention, she's likely subject to attacks, since that's what they do.

And you said it, she did put herself in peril, had to disappear for awhile, not to mention she had to work out what she did and how to deal with it for herself. I admire her for what she did, have since I first saw her J6 testimony - and what she's learned has had a profound effect on her. She knows that TFG is a danger to this country and must never return to the White House.
