And I had to admit that I agreed with a lot of his opinions about Republicans, American Democracy, etc.

He's not one of "them".

Years ago, my friends in Austria gave me a cookbook, and I just found the recipe for "Emperor's Mess" (also available on numerous websites, if others are interested).

Also found a couple of anecdotes on Wikipedia. Here's one of them:

One apocryphal story involves the Emperor and his wife, Elisabeth of Bavaria, of the House of Wittelsbach. Obsessed with maintaining a minimal waistline, the Empress Elisabeth directed the royal chef to prepare only light desserts for her, much to the consternation and annoyance of her notoriously austere husband. Upon being presented with the chef's confection, she found it too rich and refused to eat it. The exasperated Francis Joseph quipped, “Now let me see what 'Schmarren' our chef has cooked up.” It apparently met his approval as he finished his and even his wife's serving.

Back to the cookbook. Later this week: Fiaker Goulash, (an Austrian adaptation of the Hungarian dish).

Elected. Given the extreme MAGA stranglehold, I'm very doubtful that Arnold could ever be nominated as a Republican today. Perhaps in Alaska, who knows?
