Nothing like adding a "new" chaos element to the GOP's never-ending dumpster fire

I don't necessarily favor deals with the devil, and we know of many of those on the GOP House side. Looking at possible scenarios for bipartisan cooperation regarding the issues you raised and others, the possibility of achieving these goals in a timely manner with Scalise is slim, and with Jordan virtually zero. Within the majority, that leaves McCarthy, who has now changed his tune to "available". If he was to agree to pursue critical legislative goals, as opposed to noisy non-performance art from MAGA leaders / members, would Democrats go so far as to stage a "coup" with enough mainstream conservative GOP members to reach 217, and reinstate a somewhat less onerous asshole than the known train wrecks considered to be front-runners? He did facilitate the continuing budget resolution currently in effect, and (ding-ding!) he apparently wants his old job back. I believe that pragmatism should enter into the picture at some point, hopefully before we see the likes of Speaker Scalise or (worse yet) Speaker Jordan.
