Fire Walk With Me
(38,893 posts)seemingly within hours of this one topping 25K, the previously required amount. SURE, it's to stop "death star" petitions.

(5,610 posts)would reinstate Glass-Steagal, which would break up these "too big to fail" monopolies, it would sure help the majority and make the minority live by the rules that supposedly govern us all.
ie..I defraud people of billion$, I am a big, monopolistic bank. Of the billion$ I stole, "our" govt. might fine me a million $. Hmmm...steal billion$ and pay a fine of a fraction of that amount...sounds like a good investment.
The question is how long the majority will allow this behavior. How do we change this behavior? We unite and take our protests to the street. If we did the same with THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE, then the MSM monopoly would actually have to fairly report on this activity.
Damn, that would mean that Occupy would actually survive and help change our country. All kinds of things are possible IF the majority actually unites and take to the streets in protest. Millions (not thousands) of people in America, demanding change.
"Our" govt. may even realize that the people united, are a force too strong to be ignored.
Really, a few million people, each in their own town commons, demanding real change. Besides being a beautiful sight, it would work.
We would not be a single target for the police/military to suppress and arrest/harm.
We would be locals, having friends and family in our local police/military forces. Not unfamiliar "rabble rouser's," but hometown folks, demanding change, synchronized to protest at the same time.
IMO, that would cut down on the violent repression by the "authorities" (especially in rural areas), it would mean that people would not have to travel far to protest our increasingly unjust conditions (much like the principle behind OWS) and IF we did unify and synchronize our protests (seeking a new, "new deal" it would be impossible to ignore, besides the added benefit of forcing national leaders to realize that Americans are not afraid to demand change.
Just a (nice) thought. Hell, "flash mobs" are effective, common and fun...
