(27,807 posts)When Bob Dylan was young,
he hitchhiked from Minnesota to New York to meet Woody Guthrie and played Guthrie
"A Song to Woody," which he'd written as a tribute.
Woody liked Dylan and invited him back.
Dylan stayed with the Guthrie family and became friends with thirteen-year-old Arlo Guthrie"
(Wikipedia)
Speaking of "turning over in his grave,"
After Bob Dylan "went from acoustic to electric" .angering many of his fans,
at the end of a European tour that culminated in a raucous confrontation between Dylan and his audience at the Manchester Free Trade hall in England on May 17, 1966, amongst all the boos, one member of the audience yelled out "Judas!"
Another angry Dylan fan yelled out "Woody Guthrie would be turning over in his grave."
He might have, except he wasn't actually dead.
(Woody Guthrie died the following year)
