Okay, who was it that cursed me with all the snot of a small North Dakota town?

I was just getting over this f***ing cold I've had since thanksgiving, thanks to two little ambulatory elementary school petrie dishes, and all of a sudden, two hours ago I was wracked with so much of a coughing, gagging, dripping drooling mess coming out of my face that I swear I couldn't catch my breath for a full five minutes and everything I wore plus four towels had to go into the laundry after I dragged myself off the bathroom floor. I got it under control, but still, it's miserable and I don't think I can sleep any time soon until they take their snot back.

On top of that, our 10 year old water heater thermostat went out and no more hot water. We were saving up for a good quality tankless system and installation, and this pushes that purchase back to August.
On top of that, I've been teleworking, and my customer decided tonight he'd work overtime, so I just finished email tag with him, while the family (not understanding telework at all) have been asking "what's for dinner" for the past hour.

Sigh.

1. Wait until your nose rebels and refuses to let it out

Then it backs up into your sinuses and makes your head explode.

Whatever this is, it ain’t fun.

2. Sounds like more than a cold. Probably the flu. I got it bad last year and made sure this year...

to get a flu shot in the fall (doesn't hurt, not expensive, takes but a minute and the pharmacist does it right in the drugstore).

Might be too late for you this year but it's worth asking your pharmacist.

7. Other than the post nasal faucet, I feel better than I have in weeks.

No flushed feelings, no bouts of exhaustion, no body aches, and I'm getting my appetite back.
Spouse gave me a shot of the Nasonex his doctor had recommended earlier this year for his cold and allergy bout (he couldn't handle Flonase with his CPAP) and that seems to be working for now. I'm heading to urgent care tomorrow morning to see if it's a sinus infection, or just one last f***you from the cold germs as they're departing.
And the plumber will be by tomorrow afternoon to fix the water heater, so I'll be able to stop boiling water in my 4 gallon tamale steamer pot for laundry and dishwashing...or the bath for my granddaughter and the water I'm now heating up for a bath for myself.
Just like my grandmother before they moved to the city and got indoor plumbing in the late 20's.

And it turned out to be a sinus infection. Two rounds of anti-bio needed.

If you aren't better in the morning, you might call the doctor.
Second the Flonase recommendation-- the doctor put me on that too.

Well, all North Dakota towns are small….but…should I feel offended? Are you implying that the denizens of North Dakota towns are snotty? (I am snickering.)
