Felt like a good morning for a blog - no politics - just life (and gardening!).
Hoping I can run into some of you on my speaking tour this year!

Thanks to all of you for your friendship, support, commenting on my often rambling OPs, the kind words when we lost our dog - it means a lot.
Oh yeah - we just MUST to a DU meetup or two in the RTP area....it's been far, far too long!

(26,260 posts)I was there for her first birthday, and the weather was DEFINITELY far warmer.
Not sure how far below zero we dipped, last night. Last time I had checked it was -6. We are up to a balmy 10, right now.
I am counting on Florida being HOPEFULLY nice and warm when I fly there, in 3 weeks, for my niece's wedding. I desperately need to thaw out.

(1,642 posts)This may be the worst cold spell I've experienced in the ten years I've been here.
It's chasing my wife and I out. We're moving to someplace warm. Yesterday, we set our sights on Las Vegas.
The worse the global warming gets, the more cold spells will fall on the east coast.
Global warming goes to the Arctic and pushes that Arctic air down to us. The Arctic melts and the Carolinas freeze.
Big industry is thrilled. They now have access to Arctic shipping lanes and oil resources. Global warming is profitable.

(1,642 posts)The worst part is the need for internal house heating. Dry, dusty air.
My feet are freezing, but my upper body is sweating!
It wasn't like this when I moved here from NY ten years ago.
I'm getting too old to be cold.

(115,677 posts)Thank you for continuing and sharing your blog. Rereading older ones, pesticides in strawbales makes why I had such a difficult time growing anything in mind make sense. Next time I'll be more careful. Do this pesticides wear off so it's ok to use them in composting the next year?
Stay warm.

Went ice fishing this morning - took me an hour to start and warm up the car
Power auger wouldn't start.
Too cold for the propane heater too - but we got some nice trout.
My sun porch was 70o when I came home - the cats loved it.
Fresh trout, and my home grown squash and potatoes for suppah tonight!
