The Beetle was first mass produced in 1945, so the 75th anniversary of the VW Beetle would be in 2020. (Somehow I don't think we can do a 100th anniversary in 2038 - that was when the "KdF-Wagen" factory was opened, but the Germans are a little sensitive about commemorating their Nazi-era past.)

I watched it again last night; I counted at least 4 times Steve McQueen drove past the green Volkswagen.
