I haven't even used this yet, but from the moment I picked it up I knew this was built with quality in mind. Yes it's plastic, but a very thick type of plastic. The action of the pump is smooth yet strong and the blank shots (out of salt) feet nice and strong. I can't get over how well built this feels. Of course I'm out of regular salt (I use kosher salt and grind it as I need it) duhhhhh, so a quick run to the store or neighbor and get some salt for target practice. It's 5 Stars!!! This is not built as a toy that's for sure!! Thanks...

So I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband and I'm not entirely sure that was a smart move on my part. Not because the product doesn't work (it works very well in fact) but because my husband is now intent on leaving the doors open to the house when summer comes back around so all kinds of bugs can be let in for him to kill. He's already had the pleasure of being able to use it on a spider that was on an outdoor Christmas decoration and boy was he ecstatic! Since we seem to be in short supply of bugs in the house during these cold winter months, my husband has also resorted to using this gun as a way to add salt to food while he's cooking. Anything to keep him entertained I guess In conclusion, yes this product works, yes it kills bugs, and yes you can even use it while cooking if you're tired of using the boring old salt shakers we have all grown accustomed too.

Also bought a few as gifts a year after. Knockdown range is about two feet if you try and hit them on the fly. Kill range is around 8-10 inches for the greenbottle fly we have here in California. Beware of gritty hardwood and tile floors if used indoors! There is a new model available but like the OP, I don't want to promote sales of this product because of it's homegrown funding but Chinese manufacturing.
