My black lab is @ my feet right now and he is trying to control me with
his eyes ... life is good.

(7,516 posts)My lab mix rescue dog loves every creature: people, other dogs, cats, ferrets, he even tried to make friends' with a llama and goats - almost got kicked in the head by the former and butted by the latter. I got lucky - he is the best dog I've ever been around. Chewing on a bone right now while I watch Chris Hayes.
Oh yeah, he knows how to use his eyes on people too, for pets and treats.

(31,987 posts)Runs up to me every morning when I first get up and stands on her hind legs and puts her front legs around my waist, as if she is hugging me "Good morning!"
When I pet her, she will lean into me with her eyes closed.
Her soft fur is the color of champagne and she has the most beautiful amber eyes.
She loves everyone, even the UPS guy.
She is such a sweetheart.

(4,217 posts)Followed my mom everywhere when she visited. The pup would even settle on my mothers lap in the car as she and my dad would dogsit her when we went on vacation. Keep in mind that up till then my mom was not a dog person. Our second dog was a yellow lab picked by our then 10 yr old son. She was his dog but also my dog and my husbands dog. She tried very hard to be everything to all of us all of the time, no small feat. And now our son is grown and my husband and I have a labradoodle who seems to look and act as a combination of the two previous dogs. Although shes 8 shes very much a kid and plays with her toys constantly. On some days we just play with her and talk to her all afternoon. No dog enjoys each day more. She owns the house and our bed. Wouldnt have it any other way. She is pure joy.

(4,217 posts)They are fabulous dogs who just want to be held. Its going to be tough when one of them passes because they are constantly together. That will be my next dog, but hopefully not for a long time. Im glad you and a Demo have some quality time together. Enjoy!

(16,858 posts)That sweet baby is our Millie. My wife says before we adopted her she could never hear me pull in the drive, but Millie always knows when Im home and shes always eagerly awaiting me walking through the front door. Now, thats not a guard dog instinct either, Greyhounds arent known for that, because shes pretty much oblivious to most visitors, but when I come home she knows...its weird. She also will get out of her bed several seconds before our sons bus pulls up in the afternoon anticipating his arrival as well.

(16,377 posts)Most of us don't even deserve dogs. They are too good for this world. I like to think they make us better people, though. Mine does. I've noticed fellow dog lovers all have a similar "if I won the lottery" fantasy, that we would find a way to rescue as many dogs as we can. Wouldn't it be wonderful to buy a huge ranch and fill it up with doggos? Plenty of protect space for them to run and their very own pond.

What about the love of a soulmate?
IrishEyes
(3,275 posts)That would be the love of two dogs. Also, the love of a cat or two. My cat is sound asleep and laying on my foot at the moment. My other cat is on the window ledge guarding the home from possible dangers.
A love of cats and dogs is a must have when choosing my future husband.
