4. Saw Cream live at the Cal State Northrige gym on March 15, 1968...

Which is almost 50 years ago (gasp!). Back then, the university was named San Fernando Valley State College (you could almost hear the mission bells). Canned Heat opened for them. The acoustics in the men’s gym left a lot to be desired, but they sounded great regardless. I had a headache for three days afterward, but it was well worth it.

I still have the small concert poster by John Van Hamersveld, who did the classic Endless Summer movie-poster image.
