Spent the better part of the last 3 hours writing a business proposal

There was only one Chinese restaurant in the area that offered delivery and it burned down 9 days ago. (I live in a small town.) The owners of that restaurant have not decided if they will rebuild.

I thought that maybe the other restaurant (which has a tiny dining area and survives mostly on pick-up orders) might want to capitalize on the delivery market.

So I typed up a proposal where the restaurant would offer dinner-shift deliveries on a trial basis.

I included delivery area, delivery fee schedule, duties/responsibilities of drivers, advertising responsibilities, wage proposal, and a suggestion of what might happen regarding adding drivers should the trial be successful. (if anyone can think of something I missed, please let me know.)

I'm going to run this thing by my boyfriend when he wakes up, and hope to pitch it to the restaurant either this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon.

One thing that worries me is that there may be a language barrier. I know because we order from them that they do speak English, but I wonder how good it is. I wouldn't begin to know where to find a translator and can't afford to hire one anyway. I guess that's why it was important for me to put the proposal on paper.

I'd really like this to work out. I'd like to get back to work, and I would like to see this restaurant--with its good food and friendly service) thrive in our small community.

The zip code for my town is not even a valid address.

As I indicated, this is a small town. I know of a few establishments that deliver in the area I proposed, and they are all pizza joints.

was to be sure to include research on potential competition to your business as part of your business plan.

what is the nearest town to yours that has a doordash type service?

The reason I stated this is that I've written a number of plans in the past, including one back in 1989 for a business I called "Waiters on Wheels" (someone else took that name years later).

I never started that business, opting instead to go into a custom T-shirt printing business instead.

3. Being able to order and pay online

Even leave the delivery tip online, is huge. Especially if there is a language issue. We order from the one non-chain pizza place here that has it, love it.

I am, however, wary of asking them to invest in that kind of change for a trial period.

But I do think it's an idea for the future that should be added to the proposal.

As far as I know, people are not having a hard time with the language barrier when it comes to the pick-up orders they are currently taking. I know I never have.

5. Google Translate has essentially broken down all of the world's language barriers.

Of course, there are still glitches, but if you ever hit a barrier, just pull up Translate (or a similar ap), speak into your phone, and it can translate what you say into almost any language you might need.
