DFW, thanks for hooking me up with your friend who moved to Hannover from Berlin in 1949(?). He loves this Bavarian restaurant so we enjoyed it together. Next Tuesday he's taking me to Potsdam to see the former kings' residences. Just a really great guy he is!

For the really curious, I had the Knusprige Schweinshaxe.

I am envious! I was there on a trip in the mid 80s and would love to go back! Do they still serve that wonderful Rhine wine?

Enjoy your pork dinner!

Isn't there some kind of local law prohibiting that? (J/K!!)

I told you that you'd have a good time with him. For a former hotshot law enforcement/national security officer who has seen a lot of blood and guts, he is really a very nice, easy-going guy, and he has a great time showing newbies to the area around. I have never heard him speak English, as we have always spoken German together, but he has spent time in the UK and the States, so I doubt you had much trouble communicating.

You will LOVE Potsdam. Tell him I said hi!

Ingo is just the greatest and his English is excellent! Such a generous guy, he offered to take me to Potsdam so heck yes I accepted!

I mentioned Wansee to him (not hinting ofc) but he did not seem interested in that at all. Maybe I'll go on my own there.
