I've seen this film 1,000 times, and I'm watching it, again. A Face In The Crowd

I have a list of films that I make it a point to watch, when ever possible: The Corn Is Green, The Little Foxes, Now Voyager (yea, I am a HUGE Bette Davis fan) Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Night of the Hunter, and A Face In The Crowd are definitely clumped at the top.

4. I should have had All About Eve on my list!

The thing about Bette Davis moves is that even the not so great ones are a treat to watch. She was magnificent.

I was in basic training with someone who once ran into her at a grocery store. She said Bette couldn't have been nicer or more down to earth. I envied her the encounter.

I have wondered if maybe Stormy has some audio of trump* making brutally unflattering comments about his followers. I think he might fear that more than most things she could have on tape or video.

Of course, that wouldn't bother some of them, in the least.

7. Did you catch what was on TCM before "A Face In The Crowd"?

"Gun Crazy," a b-movie noir that has rightfully attained cult status. If you haven't seen it, catch it next time it's on TCM; they show it a couple of times a year.

And there's certainly nothing wrong with "A Face In The Crowd," which I've seen several times.

I am a fan of John Dall movies. It's sad he had such a relatively short career, because I thought he was a brilliant actor.

...today, if Lonesome Rhodes made his off-the-cuff remarks, he'd just claim they were faked. Fox News would push this, half of his supporters would believe it, and the other half would say, "so what? At least good ol' Lonesome tells it like it is"...and before long, anyone who attacked him for his comments would be attacked themselves as "elitists"...even in the MSM...and he'd just go smoothly sailing along...

9. How on earth did I miss not seeing The Corn Is Green?

Night of the Hunter scared the beejuses out of me when I first saw it. I was maybe 10-11. Haunted me as a very memorable film for ages. I watched it again a couple of years ago. Have always had a huge yen for Robert Mitchum. He always struck me as someone who was totally comfortable ion his own skin.

11. The Corn Is Green touches me to the core of my soul

I love the Bette Davis version and am equally enthralled by the made for TV Katharine Hepburn version.

If I was ever to go back into theater, I'd kill to play the role of Miss Moffatt.

I'm a big movie and classic movie fan but I've never heard of The Corn is Green...guess I'll have to be on the lookout for it...

13. It's the story about a teacher who sets up a school in a Welsh mining town

and changes the life of one young man, in particular. It's based on a play by Emlyn Williams. As was the case in old Hollywood, most of the Welsh roles are filled by Irish actors, but when they made the TV version, they also made it a point to cast Welsh actors in the major roles.

Another of my favorite movies is based on one of his plays - Night Must Fall. It stars Rosiland Russell, Dame May Witty and Robert Montgomery. Montgomery plays a very creepy role in a most brilliant manner.
