Get WELL!!!

(66,327 posts)Thanks.
I think I might be well enough to go back to work tomorrow. Although just thinking about it makes me sick again...
NightWatcher
(39,343 posts)and I'm saving a ton of money on groceries. I'm currently on Day 4 with no food. Living off Redbull and Powerade.
Details, yeah the details are no fun at all.
Aristus
(66,327 posts)I discourage my patients from ever drinking them.
I'm surviving on tea and bland foods.
NightWatcher
(39,343 posts)I am on meds for conditions and I don't know if they are helping or hurting this. Plaquenil and Methotrexate make surviving miserable sometimes.
I try not to drink more than one of each a day.

Powerade and Red Bull, though; I'd advised no more than one or two a week.

(26,260 posts)I'm going stir crazy but only because the weather is so awful, I can get out and start clearing my gardens! I'm going to be sooooo far behind in my yard work. Last year, I was mowing before May!
Here's my question, why the heck won't my cats eat the healthy, grain free cat food I bought them?!?!!?! That stuff wasn't cheap!!
Aristus
(66,327 posts)Not even cats.
I actually knew someone names Siwsan once. She was from Jordan.

(26,260 posts)The looks I've been getting......... I probably should have drown the food in gravy. They like gravy.
In my case, Siwsan is the Welsh version of Susan.
Aristus
(66,327 posts)It's cool to know you are Welsh.
My ancestry is Welsh, too.
What's Welsh for 'Robert'?
Siwsan
(26,260 posts)Hrodberht, Robin, Rhobard. It's interesting looking at some of the translations. Like David to Dafydd but the nickname in Welsh is Dewi. Sometimes it's just phonetics like Griffin/Gruffydd.
I'm only beginning to tip my toe into the language. It's tricky. Very, very guttural and tricky. The ability to 'trill' is essential.
I think I like 'Rhobard' the best.

(22,252 posts)we had to stop buying Blue Wilderness when it went up too much so we went to Chicken Soup for the Soul which is healthy but not as good as Blue Mountain.
We have a new entry in the Big Pet Store Chain world and they have a house brand that is very reasonable and the cats really like!
https://www.petsuppliesplus.com/en.aspx
House brand is Red Ford
Now check out THIS one: https://www.petsuppliesplus.com/categories/cat/food/dry%20food/Orijen-Regional-Red-Cat-Food/9551
This is the top drawer cat chow. I noticed it was made in Kentucky using locally sourced meat, fish, vegetables etc. So I looked to see where; it is made in Auburn KY very near my hometown. Auburn is a town of around 1400 and is best known for its Amish history and a monastic retreat center. This factory provides a market for produce and meat; clean lakes and rivers abound for fishing; of course the much needed employment. Wish I could afford to buy it but with 4 cats, it isn't happening.

(26,260 posts)Some I mix with the stuff they will eat, trying to trick them. They are very good at picking out what they like and leaving the rest. And the odd thing with these cats is they don't like people food, unless it's tuna, although Sophie will eat a little chicken. Boudicca licks it and walks away.
My brother gave me some Premium Edge for Finicky Cats. They're ok with that. And there is a Pets Supply Plus not far from me - I'll check out their house brand.
Ah well, they are healthy and very active so I'll go back to giving them what they like.

(115,681 posts)When I offered them some they just stared at me with that "You've got to be kidding!" look, wouldn't touch them. They want their kitty junk food, Whiska Lickins and Temptations. It was like being offered broccoli when you wanted chocolate chip cookies.

(70,501 posts)Why is it called the Mississippi River when the Missouri River is longer
and rivers are named after their longest sections? Would you support
renaming the river?
Does Trump have syphilis on the brain?
Is Ivar's Acres of Clams the best place the world?
Aristus
(66,327 posts)I suspect that the Mississippi was named by whatever First Nations tribe was the most important one associated with it.
No. Let the name stand.
Possibly. Until he gets tested, it's impossible to know if his behavior is due to untreated syphilis, or just because he's a stupid asshole.
No. No place serving clams, or any other kind of seafood, is the best in the world. (Sorry; I hate seafood.)
Ivar Hagglund was a beloved local philanthropist, though. His hilariously bad TV commercials are the stuff of local legend.

Like you I am a State Capitol Junkie, having had to learn them for 5th grade geography (we had to learn Central and South America national capitals and Canada's provincial capitals)

We have Iowa jokes in Minnesota but this one is at least geographically accurate.
Sorry, Iowa people.
