Not too long ago, I mentioned that it's important to remember that Tchaik wrote a lot more than just "The Nutcracker."

He had a fascinating life and his death will always be mysterious or possibly nefarious.

I just played his 2nd symphony last week, the "Little Russian." It is vary rarely played as the ones programmed are usually 4,5 and 6.

Wonderful horn solos, brass fanfares, racing string parts, an adorable little 'wedding march,' a rather strange, in my view, scherzo, brief but typically grandiose Tchaikovsky Russian(Ukrainian) hymn, and one of the greatest finales he wrote...
