I Take Photos Of Cats High On Catnip, And It's Sooo Much Fun (19 Pics)

https://www.boredpanda.com/i-take-photos-of-cats-high-on-catnip/

I'm Andrew and I'm an animal photographer best known for my captivating images of felines. While I used to be terribly allergic to cats, I now live with my girlfriend, our three cats, and a slew of rotating foster kittens outside of D.C.

Recently finished a project about cats' love for the green stuff.

I have a book coming out on June 19th called CATS ON CATNIP and wanted to share a few shots from it. This book was sooo much fun to make and I hope you guys enjoy a sneak peak!

I'd never owned a Cat til a few years ago, she just showed up and adopted me. Friend's had described how their Cats reacted to Katnip. So I get on Amazon and order a ounce of "premium" Katnip, only the good shit for my Cat. I get some out, hold it down on the ground, the Cat comes over smells it, turns up her nose and goes and takes a nap. I was very disappointed, maybe I'll try smoking it.

They went through a genetic bottleneck and are mostly descended from a few cats who didn't care for the stuff.

At least, I vaguely remember hearing about something like this once. Maybe it was New Zealand. Maybe it was dogs. Maybe I dreamt the whole thing.

Responsiveness to catnip is genetic and hereditary. According to Karen Overall, MA, VMD, PhD, cats in Australia are missing out entirely. "Cats in Australia don't respond to catnip because it's genetic," she says. "They've had a six-month quarantine forever to get animals into the country, so they've basically had a closed gene pool.

(they have a great webcam at http://www.ustream.tv/ffrc) where the cats have the run of the place, including all night. One day someone sent them a big package of dried catnip, and the owner of the place left the package on her desk, not thinking the cats could open it - but during the night a whole pack of cats found the package, tore it open and strewed dried catnip everywhere. Basically, about 15 cats had a party all night with maybe a pound of catnip, and by morning they were lying around all covered with it.

out there that's kinda the same size and shape as a cat, and flails around a bit for a minute or two, then dismounts and seems as calm as can be. I swear it looks just like sexual behavior!

I wondered about it for a while then happened to read that catnip contains nepetalactone which mimics feline sexual pheromones! So there ya go. That would explain why young cats who haven't matured sexually would not get off on it.

My boy was neutered at a relatively older age (before I got him) so sex is in his repertoire, even if the drive isn't there anymore. I just hope he's happy "getting his rocks off" so to speak!

The bee balm is four feet tall, the cone flower is all over the place. The hummers and bees and butterflies should be very happy this year.

Sort of like watching cats jump around when you put Scotch tape on their paws. Or drunks walking into walls. Can't help but laughing but also can't help feeling it's kind of sick. Especially for a species so much superior to man.
