2 men knocked at my door Sunday evening. One was not older than 30, the other was maybe 40 or so. Both wore white shirts, black slacks. They both had id badges, and told me they were from a church. I had just gotten home and has a little headache and I was expecting a call, so I didn't give them my full attention. I thought they were Jehovah's Witnesses, but they said they weren't and they weren't Mormons. I told them I was a QUaker and they seemed puzzled. I said Society of Friends and then they acted like they knew what I meant. They asked me if I needed any help, since I had a headache. I said no thanks and they left.
A lot of churches offer evening service on Sunday, so it didn't seem like the right time of day to proselytize. They didn't witness as church representatives often do, didn't offer a prayer or a pamphlet. If they were church reps, they weren't very good at it. I don't think they were con men. I might be crazy, but I think they were some kind of law enforcement. Or maybe they were Jay and Silent Bob.

(67,112 posts)my house, no badges, mid-20's. Well dressed. One stayed in the late model car. I had my car in the driveway, was changing oil in the lawnmower in front of my car, I could not be seen from the street ... garage door opened. So, I saw someone out of the corner of my eye, I stood up ... guy looked surprised. Said they were in college looking for summer jobs pulling weeds, mowing lawns. Neither of these guys looked like they had ever mowed a lawn in their life. I think they were looking to grab some stuff out of the garage and take off.
