(4,492 posts)It is posts like this. I've also seen it at countless Democratic party meetings.
Shall I see myself off your lawn now?

(53,776 posts)as there's more of that here than the millennial variety.
And you GenXrs, don't feel ignored like the neglected, middle children you are. And don't get your hackles up.
I'm a middle kid too who knows how it feels.
Note to millennials: Inclusion not exclusion is the watch word here and in the Dem. Party. We're all in this trump crap show together and we need to stay together to fight it.

(4,492 posts)Just the other day there was a thread romanticizing landlines.
I've been to various committee meetings (throughout the country) where there might as well be the "Get off my lawn club" and going off on 'kids these days' and dismissing things like texting, cord cutting, and saying how they could buy a house just out of high school.
IF they want kids to vote for Democrats, people can't be so dismissive of an entire generation (and then some as Gen Z is now coming of age). Not one Boomer on this forum has responded to my request to what the under 30 turnout looked like when the Boomers were in that demographic.

them were activists or activist sympathizers who lived through the '60s, the most politically turbulent decade of the century and many took to the streets to demonstrate against "the establishment" (if that phrase sounds familiar, vague and dated it's because a certain candidate used it throughout the 2016 campaign to attack the Democratic Party "establishment" .
I think you're getting my drift. I'm against divisiveness and refusals to find compromise in the party whether it's boomer versus millennials versus genXrs or progressives versus liberals versus so-called centrists.
But getting back to the under-30 boomers I mentioned before, half were activists or activist sympathizers, the other half were young republicans. That dichotomy exists to this day but the activist half of boomers know from experience that voter turnout of younger people is low because it was low in their ranks in the '60s. That's nothing new. GenXrs will tell you the same thing.
Everyone is not woke enough to recognize this growing generational divide in the party but I am and I think you are. This divide needs to be squashed as it won't help us beat the repugs in November or the orange pustule in 2020 if he survives Mueller.
We can't afford another horrendous divide in 2020 like we had in 2016 with the Clinton/Sanders factions at each others' throats.

(4,492 posts)When I was growing up (I'm 38 so half millennial half gen x) most people weren't active. In 2000 (my first presidential election), I was the only one of my friends to vote. The 90s (or 80s) wasn't a decade known for activism like others were. Hell I didn't go to a protest until 2010.
