Update on our dear friend's recovery from spinal stenosis surgery...

His home physical therapy is going well, if slowly. He said he was able to shower and shave by himself, a major achievement. They will concentrate on helping him get out of his condo (negotiating steps). Next after that will be driving. He's seeing progress and that keeps him going. Having been through this with my husband, we know what a journey he is on.

A couple of good things have come out of this. He has quit drinking and smoking. He just turned 69.

my sister-in-law called and said her husband is having spinal stenosis surgery. He has an infected cyst on his 4th vertebrae.

I bet they'll take him PDQ. Once my husband had his diagnosis he went into the hospital the next day and they did the surgery. Otherwise they said he wouldn't walk again. He uses a really good walker downstairs and a regular one upstairs. He goes up and down the stairs once a day. We're hoping our friend will be in good enough shape in the fall to go to the Yale football games.
