Advice?

I am in the market for a new mattress. My current one has been through 10 years of cat barf and dog hair.

I've been looking at the local circular and I am confused. Memory foam? Pillow top? Gel? Name brands? UGGGG! It's alll so confusing. Any advice? I plan on going saturday to lay down and test some out, but damn... how do you know?

Any thoughts Lounge?

It was the softest mattress the store had, and that's what we wanted.

Foam (from what I hear, anyway) tends to be hot.

Good luck, and happy shopping!

I am in Central Texas where summer temps can be unbearable! No hot for this one!

I was looking at a pillow top! Thanks for the advice Peggy!

So help me, I'd had trouble waking up frequently (probably a little apnea to be honest) and as soon as we elevated the head of the bed, and I mean by a fair amount, it was like a miracle had occurred.

I'm not sure if it applies though if you have pets because they're going to shorten lifespan considerably.

You're going to spend a third of your life in bed, a good mattress can last 3 decades. Spend accordingly. You'll be happier for it, a good bed will improve your life.

Whatever embraces your body like you're sleeping on a bale of cotton.

Forget the bale. That would be too hard too.

stayed at 'resort hotel.' Family and I LOVED pillow top mattresses, and as friend at home is thinking of looking for new mattress, I think I'll go WITH him to mattress store!
