I'm totally OK with those privacy laws.

I'm also OK with mocking every move he makes.

When participating in the care of the patient unless waivered. Now if the clinician was providing a forensic examination and diagnosis, that's a completely different situation and HIPAA doesnt applu though court or other rules may.

by putting himself where he is. Personally, I think he is a profoundly stupid man. I sometimes question whether it is appropriate to notice that and speak of it. But he stepped into a position where the entire world can notice him and he has been unwilling to attempt to show himself in a better light. It's not like he got there and then developed a personality disorder or became dumb. He applied for and won the office, pathology intact, and much to out detriment. He's fair game.

can you say that he put himself in that situation and is therefore fair game? Similarly, suppose a young man becomes delusional and thinks he can fly. If he jumps out of a window and harms himself, are you going to say that it was his choice and therefore we can make fun of him?

because he went out of his way to gather power. He's personality disordered, and that's different than mental illness. It may not be his fault that he has a PD. But rather than getting help, or trying his darndest to be a good person or at least not a rotten one, he chose to act on it, and in a way that harms others bigly. Therefore, yes, he can be hated, mocked, and ridiculed. Hitler probably had some mental/emotional issues too--did he have to act on them? No.

However every well person who supported his campaign, who lied and covered for him (and his mental illness), who used a mentally ill citizen for their gain is certainly fair game. I’m talking some kind of neorological issue. Not narcissism, but something like Alzheimer’s. Or brain damage due to a stroke. Then we would be as bad as he was (is) when mocking a disabled reporter. (Still makes me cringe.) Right now, all we have is “asshole” and I’m fairly certain that’s not a mental illness, although it does seem to be a preexisting condition as far as he’s concerned.

Though I generally do not support mocking those with psychological conditions (I am a licensed therapist and independent social worker.. working on phd). People with Axis ii conditions (even though this is no longer utilized in DSMV V) may sometimes engage in behavior that they know to be cruel and harmful. Trump exhibits behavior that seems to relate to antisocial personality, borderline and/or nasrcissitc personality. He may lack empathy and be unable to truly express sincere compassion but he sometimes appears to enjoy cruelty which is most certainly a borderline or APD trait. They know society views this behavior as unacceptable but they recieve pleasure or personal gain from their actions. I say mock away if that is the case.

I see no problem with mocking him.

He needs a good dose of having done to him what he's done to others.
