I decided to buy a drone for my daughter's birthday. These things are dangerous.

I have no flying experience .. But I thought ..how hard could it be?

Well .. I am humbled. The damn thing went crazy. It knocked my wife's plant off on the patio before it took off and landed in my neighbor's yard a couple blocks away. .. Luckily no one was injured or no property damaged...I am currently in the doghouse for getting my daughter a dangerous toy.

This is a bug 3 drone which everyone on Amazon raved about how easy it is to control.

Do I have any hope?

the neighbors 5 year old will be flying it like an expert in about 10 minutes. And laughing at you behind your back. Probably also sending something called "emojis" out over the inner-tubes.

I’m your mom!

Don’t know about my daughters legs, but she probably smells like baby spit up, and has long red hair.

And she loves to give her mom the business about her tech skillz, or lack thereof.

I brought it into the garage, and told my neighborhood busybody that I found something that might belong to someone in the ‘hood.

Three days later, a guy knocks on the door, described it, and took it away. Only slightly crashed, it had landed in snow.

and an adult with a joy stick. I used to fly model planes and things happen fast. However a person who knows how to handle one of those things is a thing of beauty. My suggestion a very big empty field until one of you masters the other.

Keep it just a bit off the ground and move it around slowly, without spinning it. Keeping it faced in one constant direction will make orienting yourself much easier.

Slow steady moves on the stick, just a little at a time. Sudden or extreme moves will cause you to lose control. Just practice moving forward and back slowly, then side to side. Before you know it you’ll be dialed in and flying comfortably.
