Haven't y'all ever heard of dry hurricanes?

We don’t have dry ones in the Southeast, in fact Florence was one of the wettest we’ve ever had as the Dotard said. But I heard someplace that in dry areas such as West Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico they do have some dry hurricanes. You just don’t hear as much about them because they don’t cause flooding.

3. Au contraire! They do flood, but it is with air which is less noticeable than water.

7. Axisymmetric Hurricane in a Dry Atmosphere: Theoretical Framework and Numerical Experiments

Abstract
This paper discusses the possible existence of hurricanes in an atmosphere without water vapor and analyzes the dynamic and thermodynamic structures of simulated hurricane-like storms in moist and dry environments. It is first shown that the “potential intensity” theory for axisymmetric hurricanes is directly applicable to the maintenance of a balanced vortex sustained by a combination of surface energy and momentum flux, even in the absence of water vapor.
