Need help buying a digital camera

I am a very casual photographer. I don't need anything expensive or with too many bells and whistles. I would use it for sharing pictures on facebook, maybe an occasional online sale, things like that. I would like to get close ups of flowers. I grow African Violets and like to share pictures with my online friends. I have a Samsung phone that does OK except for picking up details on things like violet blossoms.

Any suggestions? Hints of what features to look for?

Thanks, Susan

If taking good quality, closeup photos of violet blossoms is really important Quemado Oct 2018 #4

and it records HD video. Extreme light conditions, long zoom, and special effects Canon still wins but it gets dusty between sessions now. Probably not useful information for you. Sorry

a cell phone with a decent camera. Cell phones are probably the easiest way to share photos on Facebook and post photos of things for sale online.

Since you already have an Android device (Samsung phone), then I would recommend buying another Android phone.

I am also a camera "dummy" Just want it to work so I press a button and click. First one I got was a film based 35mm.The next 2 cameras were Fuji Fine Pix, don't know if this camera is made any more.
I bought it when taking Photoshop and Web Design. First digital I bought cost over $400, the next one was about $150. Probably cheaper now.

Makes great pics, close up to 2 3/4" using Macro option. always clear. Good color and so easy to use. My kids treat me like I am in the dark ages when they talk about using their fancy cameras, but so What? I get great photos of the grandkids, great photos for my website and for Ebay. Even made some designs for fabric that I am getting printed, got good sharp close-up images made with my Fuji.

My husband and I have two of them and have gotten great bird pics with them. I also use them to take shots of my needlework and close ups of various antique items.

Here is one of my favorite bird pix, taken in February at the Circle B Bar Reserve outside of Lakeland, Florida. It is a great blue heron with a giant salamander. I was a good distance away but with the 50x zoom, the shot turned out great.

And here is a needlework piece, taken with the same camera:

I would buy a regular camera with a macro lens. There's a list of those cameras here: https://expertphotography.com/best-macro-photography-camera/
