Florida Gulf Coast

First time on DU since Micheal blew through here. It's unbelievable. Looks like a bomb went off. They are saying power won't be fully restored for 2 months. One of two hospitals was heavily damaged. I've never seen so many downed power poles and trees. Verizon lost something so have to travel quite a ways to get cell phone service. I'm one of the very lucky ones. House came through with no damage but not sure what I'm going to do next. A friend has offered me a house a couple hours away and I may take her up on it. Grab some stuff and my three cats and go.

What an awful mess though! I don’t know how we as a nation are going to handle constant back to back disasters.

They usually help people who cannot stay in the area because of the damage.

I know they have a service center set up but gas has been difficult to find so haven't ventured out to find it. I'm lucky to have friends with a generator, Dish, and a pool.

Seems it'll be a long time before any normalcy returns. I wish you, your family, friends and neighbors well, and hope you receive all the assistance necessary. Good luck to you all.
