Chilling after Michael.

This is the most normal I've felt since Michael ripped the shit out of my sweet little town. I've got my 18 year old kitty on my lap, sweet little Mia kitty sleeping next to me, and the radio playing music. Just waiting for it to get late enough to crank the chain saw up.

1. Did you evacuate? My mother-in-law's friend lived in Panama City and houses on either side

of theirs had severe damage. She laughed at a picture of them in a bath tub with mattresses over them. I didn't think it was funny because they had days to evacuate. Even the idea that they had to put mattresses over themselves indicates they knew something bad was going to happen.

I don't understand waiting to see if you will by killed by a hurricane.

We did not have days. They were predicting on Tuesday afternoon it would hit as a cat 3 which is not great but easily doable. People remember Opal which I evacuated for. Trust me, getting stuck on the road in a hurricane is way worse than riding it out in your home. Michael hit with 155 mph winds. Last year that would have been a cat 5 but they changed the scale to 157 mph to be a cat 5. They updated Michael's status overnight. By the time people got up there wasn't time to get gas and get out. I was very lucky and stayed with friends 30 miles inland to the east but towns 50 miles inland that were in the direct path were severely damaged.

I'm sure your kitties were stressed throughout the experience. It will take a while for anything to begin to feel like normal. Good luck to you.
