(1,148 posts)Show up half the time. I had three false alarms while a banker and I didn't pick up happy vibes from the officers who lost hours of their lives staking out the parking lot when it was just my damn knee bumping the alarm again

(26,330 posts)Got sick of the false alarms from the cleaning people, the dog or the neighbor letting the dog out.
I was more embarrassed at how seriously the cops take the alarms. I got home one time and an unmarked was in the parking lot across the alley. He told me sometimes the bad guys will set off the alarm and come back after the cops leave.
A copper buddy of mine tells me that catching someone on scene is a big feather in their cap so they make a big deal out of it.
Here is my most recent white privilege story: a couple weeks ago my new neighbors alarm went off so he texted me. I went over to check while he silenced it remotely. As I was leaving, a Chicago cop showed up at the back gate. I told the cop I was the neighbor and he took my word for it and left. Im thinking of taking up a life of crime.
