3. I spent a ton hours fighting voter suppression this cycle

I have been working with the Texas Democratic Party voter protection efforts and was in charge of voter protection in my county and provided support to some other counties. We had 50 lawyers in the war room in Austin and 20+ lawyers in the war room for Harris County. There were a ton of voter suppression in Texas and we fought these efforts.

I was on the conferences calls with the DNC voter protection efforts. Literally thousands of Democratic lawyers took off time to fight voter suppression this cycle.

I do not find the OP to be amusing at all.

5. You do know that the GOP uses these claims order to justify denying non-white voters the vote?

You may find that to be funny. I do not not but my lack of a sense of humor on this issue is due to the fact that I have had to deal with republicans who are actually proud of their efforts to deny non-white voters the right to vote. The local GOP county chair and I were on a committee on the use of voting centers and this idiot went into a racist rant about the Texas voter id law. He was shocked that I disagreed with his claim that any voter who did not have a conceal handgun license or drivers' license was too stupid to vote and that the Texas voter id law was justified. The GOP chair emphasis that it was a good thing to keep poor non-whites from voting. This was after the trial court had struck down the Texas voter id law but before the 5th Circuit affirmed most of that ruling. The local GOP chair was convinced that since I am white and lawyer that I would agree with him. It was a fun discussion since I had read all of the expert witness reports used in the Texas voter id trial.

I do not find the OP funny but that is due to the fact that I have been around too many GOP assholes who really believe that non-GOP voters are lower life forms and should not be allowed to vote. The GOP types who I deal with are very comfortable in denying the right to vote to any member of a demographic group that does not support their racist views.

I will continue to work to protect the vote. The GOP have used a number of claims to justify their efforts to suppress the vote but I do not find these claims to be funny.

NASHVILLE, TN—Hastily shooing away the varmints with corn whisk brooms, members of the Tennessee State Election Commission reportedly drove a pack of wild animals out of local voting booths Tuesday in preparation for the upcoming midterm election. “Y’all critters ain’t welcome in this here polling place—go on, get!”
