(38,421 posts)The humor is real, not one minute dated. It just works. I laughed when I discovered this earlier today.

(11,420 posts)When I was in my early teens (1968) there was a movie theater in Larimer Square downtown Denver above a store separated in to two screens called the Flick and all they showed was old black and white classics. We'd get real high, sneak some liquor and watch Marx bros. All the movies ran at nigh which mad it extra cool to be out late.

(11,420 posts)I watched an old Charlie Chan movie on Youtube the other day and it was fun. Had the Birmingham Brown incomplete sentence routine in it.

but where?.....People put all kinds of films, TV shows, news, real events, etc. on You Tube. A person used to have to go to a library to have access. Not any more. You said it, ..."I watched an old Charlie Chan movie on Youtube the other day.." You Tube is an incredible source of info and history.......
and yes, this is a real 15 minute part of a real Groucho Marx show from the 50s called, "You Bet Your Life." not made up, but the real show itself as it was broadcast 60 years ago..(yes a film copy, but that show was on film, not live)

(37,648 posts)It used to be on tv when I was a kid, sometimes. Reruns. Funny show. Funny man. I didn't appreciate Groucho Marx until I was older.
Thanks. It's nice to know that others appreciate these old shows. I have fond memories of The Jack Benny Show, The Red Skelton Show, The Danny Kaye Show (omg...I had such a crush on Danny Kaye, when I was a kid, and cont'd to think he was sexy, when I was an adult). Those shows were kind of corny, but they were the norm for the times, and they were funny. Very talented people.
Steve Allen was an extraordinary talent. A Renaissance Man, even.

(11,420 posts)all kinds of movies and classics. I couldn't find any TV shows. You can go there and watch a movie, learn a new language and brush up on your math.

(62,411 posts)My BIL was having some serious surgery.
There was a TV in the waiting room and there is a community college TV that plays a lot of really old TV.
I turned it on and an old episode of You Bet Your Life was just coming on.
Within 10 minutes we were rolling on the floor with Groucho.
The laughs really helped. Groucho was a genius
