I grew up loving Beethoven, Schumann, Schubert, and Tchaikovsky and slowly expanded to Bruch and Bruckner, Mahler and others. I've never managed to like the post-1950 era composers (well, some Bernstein, et.al.).
Thank you for reminding me of these great works, composers.

I understand Bruch was annoyed/upset that his works other than Violin Concerto weren't sufficiently appreciated; I wonder how he felt about this one, which has been one of my faves forever!

Strangely, when I want to get into a zone and tune out the world, these composers are my go to favorites.
Also, strangely, these large orchestral works are wonderful for working out on a nordic-track (or your favorite version of a pain machine.)
