And there have been several - Except for the pup I grew up with and my puppy currently snoring beside me on the couch who is now 12. And I have never, not once, been disappointed! And I agree with the video, puppies are a lot of work!

Beautiful video and so absolutely true. Dogs just get better with age and the only thing - ONLY thing - bad about adopting an older dog is losing them. But that holds true for all dogs. My current dog sat for over a year in a kennel waiting to be adopted, don't know why because he is amazing. I feel so lucky every day that I got him.

The adjustment period is easier for both of you with an older dog. My Barney was 10 or 11 when he found me and he adjusted faster than I did, LOL. He was so much smarter and more resilient than I initially gave him credit for - he fit in immediately, despite never having lived in a home. He had spent his life in a "commercial kennel," but he really belonged where he ended up - in a home where he was loved. He was the sweetest dog from day one...

And I also adopted two dogs whose respective owners had died. Sheena was 8 and my little Meneken was 9. Not only did they bond with me, but with each other, and that was the nicest thing of all.
