(25,586 posts)Every little while she would pick the bird up and hold her over the wastebasket and tell her go potty. For whatever reason the bird never had an accident.

You can somewhat train a bird to poop in one area, but I guarantee you you will be washing poop off your clothes if that bird is on your shoulder for any length of time.
Cockatoos are escape artists. They would make Houdini proud. And they are the loudest screamers you will ever meet in your life. If you have a cockatoo, some good advice would be to have a good five acres of property surrounding your house so your neighbors don't have to hear the birds screaming.
I used to work with exotic birds. I know it sacrilegious to say this on here, but I actually like birds more than cats and dogs. They have the best personalities.
If you have one of these birds in your house, or any parrot or macaw, you don't need TV. The birds will entertain you all day long.
