Hi, we're going to be traveling this month, and want to rent a wheelchair rather than take one with us. The trick is that we're flying into one city, driving to another city, and then flying home from that city -- so we would need to drop off the wheelchair in a location different from where we pick it up. Does anyone know if there's a way we can do that?

(2,187 posts)Whenever I've had to rent one for my dad, we use the delivery & pickup service all the time. You'd have to do some quick google searches but you'll find lots of choices. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

(14,498 posts)At first, I thought surely car rental companies would offer wheelchair rentals as an optional service but nope - none offer it that I can find on-line.
1. Agree with ProudLib72 to check out Scootaround.com and get pricing and availability, IF they have locations in both your cities, AND providing they will allow drop-off at a second location.
2. Try Reliable Medical Supply, see https://reliablemedsupply.com/collections/wheelchair-rentals . Looks like $50/week is their standard rate. Again, this is dependent on them having an outlet at both cities.
Their contact info is:
Phone: (913) 722-2960
Email: info@reliablemedsupply.com
3. If you cannot find a rental company with locations at both cities, you could rent at the first city and pay UPS to pack and ship it back. That would, however come with risks and I suspect UPS's shipping would be almost the cost of a low-end wheelchair and perhaps even more with shipping insurance.
4. You could just buy a low-priced wheelchair on-line and have it shipped to your destiny or pick up one at Goodwill or a discount med supply house at your first destination. Then, when you're done, just give the thing to charity or back to Goodwill at your second location. That could be a cheap as $25 from Goodwill or around $100 to $150 if you buy a new one.
You can call almost any nursing home or extended care facility in your first destination city and they can tell you where to buy new or used wheelchairs.
Hope this helps and good luck!........
