I need a friend ?

I am a 78 year widow of 2 1/2 years who has given up on dating sites. I am lonely and friendless because I refuse to interact with GOP friends. Even with supportive family nearby I need a life of my own. I am a retired teacher, lifelong democrat who lives in a rural, extreme conservative, deep red Lincoln County in N.C. Is there some DU-er nearby who could be my special friend?

1. In the last 8or9 years I have move twice

to areas where I knew no one. First thing I do is attend UU Churches and join the local Democratic Party.

Found the love of my life at the UU Church in rural Ohio. We are both Atheist.

I'll be 70 in a few months.

2. There are wonderful people at Quaker Meetings, too

I've been trying to get my 37 year old daughter to attend, mainly because of the many kind hard working intelligent men that abound there.

No talking, singing or chewing gum, the Friends meeting has begun.

4. I know that area. Pretty red but some decent folks.

What do you like to do? Is there any organized group like a library or something where you can participate? Or even start something?

Politics is hard but loneliness is harder. I hope you find some people who can be there for you.

5. An animal shelter I'd bet could use your help. Maybe you could volunteer or maybe you'd like

to foster a pet or two. Of course I don't know how you feel about pets! But you could go out every day with your dog walking, hiking, visiting. They never complain.
