My daughter is putting down her spaniel this week...

he has a cancerous tumor that will kill him. She is givng him lots of love and pain pills from the vet. There will be a home euthansia sometime this week, which they plan for outdoors under a lovely tree. The vet is very caring and sweet. I think she will arrange cremation and my daughter and her family will have his ashes. They have acquired a feisty little golden retriever puppy who is keeping the older dog company.

We just had a wonderful celebration of their daughter's 18th birthday/high school graduation weekend. But there were many tears shed also.

The dog was eating and still continent when I left today, but there really is no hope...

We lost our cat and one of our beloved Aussies several months ago, just months apart. Both died of ruptured spleens. It's a terrible time. You never get over the loss. Hugs to all.

I was raised by a cocker. When his time came, I lost my best childhood friend.

Deepest sympathies.

his household is full of females as he has 3 daughters and a little puppy who is female. So he had a buddy with Felix and they took walks together in the woods behind the house. I guess you have to remember the good times...

Hurricane, my mother balanced him, me and his food in waist deep water to a neighbor's. Once he ran off and the neighborhood mounted a search party, knowing dad would be devastated at the loss. One bedraggled black cocker was retrieved from the pound...by which time Handy had already returned home on his own! When he died, dad was so upset, he never got another dog (not good). Cockers really become family! So sorry for their loss.
