The DU Lounge

I planned to wash windows today. I started with the kitchen window, but after I washed both sides, realized the double pane seal was bad and the dirt I hoped to get rid of was in-between. I checked to see if there was any way to clean the inner sides of the glass, but unless you take it apart, there isn't. I just recently had a little experience with a metal picture frame, and figure a double pane window is more sophisticated, so for a few minutes, I lived with the idea that I was going to view my back yard through a film of gunk. But then, I thought, maybe I can switch out that window with one from a bedroom window. I checked and the width seemed the same. I watched a video on You Tube on how to take the window pane out and put it back. When I started to get the window out, I had the extra challenge of working around my cat, who wanted to be on the window ledge to take the air. The windows are the same width, but the bedroom window is about an inch taller. I did switch them out for now, but I will probably get in touch with the window company and see if they are still under warranty. For now, it works.

(17,426 posts)And good thinking.
There might be a sticker on the edge of the bad window, or the window frame itself, that has all of the information that the window company might need.

(16,958 posts)They peeled off, so I set them aside. I think we got them installed 2010 or 2011, can't remember how long the waranty lasted. The window is over the sink and kind of hard to get to, so we didn't open it much. I thought maybe the moisture from the sink played a part. I put it on my list of things to do.
