Anyone here ever disputed fault in a car accident?

I'm calling my insurance company this morning to find out how much they are going to surcharge me because they found me over 50% at fault. I disagree with this but since 2 other vehicles that caused the accident did not stop I'm not sure whether appealing this is going to get me anywhere.

I don't have any witnesses. The state cops showed up and took a report. The initial cause of the accident was someone who dropped a chair off their vehicle onto the highway and a woman after our accident did hit the chair with her car so I know there is evidence that there was a chair in the road.

Just wondering if anyone here has appealed and won or what the process was like.

Thanks!

I contacted the other persons insurance company and told them the facts and faxed them the police report. I got an estimate and the other persons insurance company said they would only pay for 75% of the damage!!! Their reason was that “I” was at fault also b/c I was there!! WTF?
I went back and forth with them and finally had to get MY insurance company involved. My Ins company paid for the repair and then THEY sued the other insurance company for the money..
What a cluster F....Lucky my rates did not go up b/c it was not my fault...
Good luck with the claim

2. I'm in a no-fault state so technically my insurance pays for my damage and his insurance pays for

his.

That's great that you had the confirmation from another source that it was not your fault but still ridiculous that you had to fight it out.

You wont get anywhere by yourself unless you have a police report that categorically says the other party caused the accident.

4. My insurance is who is saying I am over 50% at fault. The other party didn't cause the accident.

Two parties that did not stop caused it (mostly).
