Mediterranean sea(s) -- how many?

Until a couple of days ago, I only knew of the big one. I didn't realize it was also an oceanographic term. In hindsight, it makes perfect sense.

A mediterranean sea /ˌmɛdɪtəˈreɪniən/ is, in oceanography, a mostly enclosed sea that has limited exchange of water with outer oceans and with water circulation dominated by salinity and temperature differences rather than winds.[1][2] The eponymous Mediterranean Sea, for example, is almost completely enclosed by Europe, Asia, and Africa.

1. What happened to the Dead Sea?

BTW: I've been in at least four of the seas mentioned. I have a picture in my scrapbook of me exiting the Adriatic after having accidentally swallowed a bunch of saltwater.
